My Hump Day

Everyone calls Wednesday hump day. I call Thursday my hump day, because you know you only have two more days before the weekend is here and it seems like those two days go longer than the first three days. For me Monday through Wednesday just flies by. It's when I hit Thursday and Friday, the days just drag on and wear you out. As long as I can remember, I am always exhausted on Thursdays. It seems like I don't want to get out of bed in the morning and I can't wait to go back to bed at night.

I work out of the home and I work part-time for my old boss at home. Yesterday, was one of those days where it just seemed like there was too much work to do. I went to work and worked until 5pm, then I went grocery shopping. Something I didn't plan on doing, but the kids seemed to be eating more than usual this week and we were running out of everything. Then put away the groceries and  I cooked dinner and as soon as dinner was over, I worked for my old boss for almost two hours. Which I am always more than happy to do. He rewards me well for helping him out and I like to see him get work in the hope that maybe someday he will get back on his feet and I will get my old job back.  Life was much simpler when I was working for him. By the time 10 o'clock came, I was ready to fall into the bed.

The house is cleaned and the kids are off to school. So, off to work I go.

Love Of New Shoes

Did you ever find a pair of shoes and feel like they were made for your feet? I just bought these shoes and when I put them on they fit like a glove. I can't help it, I love new shoes. Now let's see how they hold up to a day at work. I love when spring comes and we can paint our toes pretty and pull out the open toe shoes.

Mom Accused Of Offering Her 4 Year Old For Sex

A 28-year old St. Clair, Michigan woman is facing charges for offering her 4 year old daughter to a man she met on an online dating website. The man contacted the police when the women forwarded him a video of herself and her daughter in compromising positions.  Andrea Angel Ziza was arrested Saturday and is being charged with one count of child sexually abusive activity, use of a computer communicating with another to commit a crime and accosting a child for immoral purposes. Her daughter was turned over to a relative and her bond was set at $50,000.

People like that amaze me. I don't understand how someone could do something like that to a child and then offer their own child to a complete stranger.

Shopping, Shopping, Shopping

Heading back to work recently posed a new challenge for me, my work clothes seem to fit a bit snugger than they used to. I guess that what happens when your sitting around the house in shorts and t-shirts all the time. So, I had to go shopping today to grab a couple of things. I need to replenish my stock of dress clothes in my closet. No more jeans for me, at least not between the hours of 8-5. There is no casual Friday where I work. So, it's dress clothes five days a week. By the time the weekend rolls around, I am ready for the running suits and sneakers.

I found a few things that look comfortable, but still professional enough to wear to work. But, I wasn't totally thrilled about the lack of color and style choices.  I wear the blacks and browns in the winter. When spring and summer comes along, I like to wear some color, like cool blues, yellows, pinks. But, there are a lot browns, cool tones and odd prints out.

Another problem in shopping for work clothes, most businesses don't allow sleeveless or low cut blouses. When your shopping for spring and summer work clothes, there are a lot of low cut blouses. Making it difficult to find something to wear to work. I don't agree with wearing them to work either, it's not the place for them. I just wish clothing designers kept that in mind when designing clothes. It's a little annoying that you have to find matching camisols to put under your blouses. Unless you go with the button down, which I am not a real big fan of. Shopping isn't fun anymore, it's too much work.  I did find a really cute pair of heals though. I can never get tired of shopping for shoes.

A Mothers Work Is Never Done

Working during the week makes you appreciate the weekends even more than you did before.  Yesterday, after work, I came home and started cleaning and doing laundry right away to free up my weekend for relaxation. Saturday is my grocery day and I used to do most of my cleaning and laundry on Sundays. That is the last thing I want to be doing all weekend long.

I have noticed that when I come from work, the house just doesn't look as clean as it should even though I cleaned before I went to work. I end up cleaning again while I'm cooking dinner. With three kids living in the house, it just seems like the house is never clean. You can clean and clean, then the next morning the house is a mess again. The laundry and cleaning is never ending.

One of my pet peeves is someone walking through the house with their shoes on. I like to walk around the house in my bare feet. I wear shoes all the time and at home I don't want to be wearing shoes. When you walk around the house barefoot, you can tell when the floors aren't clean even though you can't see the dirt, you can feel it on your feet and it drives me nuts. Now that the weather is getting nicer, I am sweeping my floors in the morning and in the evening, because the kids and their friends go in and out. Even though, I tell everyone to take their shoes off at the door, they don't always do it unless I catch them and tell them to take their shoes off. Sometimes, I can understand why some of my son's friends parents say no one is allowed in the house. I guess that's why they run here to go to get a snack and to get something to drink. We go though the fruit snacks and Gatorade like you wouldn't believe. My husband and I make a little joke that our house is a rest haven for children, because we are always feeding someone else's child. Spring is here and the kids will be out of school soon, it will be a non-stop challenge to keep the house clean and food in the house.

They All Grow Up A Little Someday, I'm Just Not Ready.

My little boy comes home from 6th grade camp today. He has been gone since Monday. It was harder than I thought it would be because, they wouldn't let him take his cell phone. So, I haven't talked to him since Monday morning. We think we want a break from our kids, then when we get one we miss them and worry about them. This time was a little harder than usual because, I haven't been away from him for more than two days. It has always been him at a friends house or my husband and I went out of town. But, I could always check on them and see how they are doing. It is really hard on a parent to have their child gone for three nights and not be able to talk to them. I can understand their point by not allowing them to bring cell phones, but it's hard on the parents. We just like to know our children are okay. I guess we have to learn to let go a little someday. It's just sooner than I expected.

Back To Work

Today will be my first day back to work. Boy, was it a hectic morning. I have been up running around since 5:00 am. It will be so nice getting back to work and having a life outside of the house and the extra money will be nice too.

It seems like since I have been a stay at home mom, my children have become more dependent on me even though they are much older than they were before when I used to work out of the home in the past. They are more forgetful and require me to stay after them more getting ready for school. They are constantly forgetting to put their lunch money in their pocket even though I give it to them, forgetting their lunch or school ID. Then they have me running to the school at least once a week to bring them something they forgot. Maybe going back to work will be the best thing for them. They will have to learn to remember the things they need in school, because I won't be able to come and bring it to them if they forgot something.

I am just one of those women who need to be working for my sanity. It's a big part of who I am as my identity. Being a stay at home mom makes me feel weak and vulnerable and that is a very uncomfortable feeling for me even though I was doing some work out of my home. It wasn't enough income or to keep me busy. I love my children, but I have always worked since they were babies. Not to mention, I need the challenge mentally to keep my mind sharp. I am so happy to be going back to work for so many reasons.

TLC "Sister Wives"

I start a new job on Monday, so I thought I would just relax on Friday since those days would soon be over. I was watching Hollywood Access the other day and they had the family on the show from the reality television show the Sister Wives. I found the show On Demand, so I started watching the show from the beginning. I was interested to see how they function as a family and how they really feel about being "sister wives." Which wasn't too hard to do, the show is only a half hour or 24 minutes On Demand.

Starting with the first show, they make it appear as everything runs smoothly and they are all happy. I try not to be judgemental about how others live their life. But, I find it difficult to believe, their isn't any hard feelings about sharing their husband's love and attention with other women. They chose that particular lifestyle for their own reasons, each one of them for different reasons. The common factor among all of them is one of the reasons they chose the polygamy lifestyle is because of their religion and faith. Cody's philosophy is "Love should be multiplied, not divided." But, by taking on more wives, isn't he dividing his love amoung his four wives?

As the show unravels, the dirt comes out. They all care about one another and want this lifestyle. However, there are feelings of jealousy. When the show starts, he only has three wives. Then it comes out that he is courting another woman for marriage and wants to bring a fourth wife into the picture. Personally, I feel he is being selfish and inconsiderate. His first wife and third wife begins to cry as they are talking about bringing a fourth wife into the picture, because they are only getting him once every third day as it is and if he takes on a fourth wife it will go to every fourth day. The third wife feels he pays a little more attention to her because she is new. The first wife says that she isn't sure if she will be able to continue with this relationship if he takes on another wife. What does he do? He asks the soon to be fourth wife to marry him. He should respect the feelings of his wives. Two of them work to contribute to the family and feel they are just getting by. Adding a fourth wife with children and the expense of a wedding will make their money even tighter.

Before the fourth wife, he already has three wives and 13 children between them. Now, he wants to and does bring in a fourth wife with two children of her own into the family. Knowing two of his wives are not happy with a fourth wife coming into the family and he still does it without their consent, says he is very selfish. He should respect their feelings. After all, he already has three wives. What does he need a fourth one for? You would think it could be a little exhausting to keep up and maintain relationships with his current wives. Not to mention keeping up with their sex lives. Sounds to me like he is trying to create his own little compound. To each his own, I wish the best of luck to all of them and hope the children come out of this situation okay. I just feel sorry for the two wives that are having problems dealing with their feelings of jealousy. But, that's what they signed up for, they knew what they were getting into by marrying a polygamist.

A Speechless Friday

When I woke up this morning and looked out my window, this is what I saw. I was so disappointed! They said we were going to get snow, but not this much and earlier in the week were weren't supposed to get any snow. This really puts a damper on the weekend, we had plans. Now I am going to freeze my but off in that cute little dress I had planned on wearing. Instead of wordless Wednesday, I am having a speechless Friday.

Paramedic Being Sued For Stealing A Foot

Former St. Lucie County Fire District firefighter-paramedic, Cynthia Economou, is being sued by the victim of a car crash for stealing his foot. Economou admitted to taking Karl Lambert's foot after the Sept. 19, 2008, crash. Economou says she took the foot to train her body recovery dog.

A lawsuit filed during the past week on Lambert's behalf alleges that Economou's actions were "outrageous and went beyond the bounds of decency ... odious and utterly intolerable in a civilised society".
Lambert's Attorney is also suing the Lucie County Fire Department,  as Lambert and his attorney claim that the district was "vicariously liable for any and all actions" by Cynthia Economou.

Cynthia Economou was charged with petty theft and was sentenced to six months probation for stealing the foot. The paramedic told the court she found the foot in the wreckage an hour after he was air lifted to the hospital and if she thought the foot was re-usable she would have told her commander. She says, "It was an unrecognizable mass of flesh."  Economou says, she got permission from her supervisor to take the foot. She says, at first he said no then he said "I don't want to know about it."  I guess he should of stuck with his gut reaction to say no. Now, the fire department and Economou is being sued by the victim.

Off To The Vet

Well it's that time of year where it is time for the cat and the dog to go to the vet and get their vaccinations and dear old Max has another ear infection. I absolutely hate going to the vet. By the time they are done, they leave you standing there with empty pockets. It costs more to take an animal to the vet than it does to take your child to the pediatrician. I never have figured out why it is so expensive. Well, it's time for me to go find the little kitty cat so I can put her in her crate. She is going to hate me for the rest of the day, at least until it's time for her can food tonight.

Horoscopes... Do they ring true?

Did you ever notice that sometimes horoscopes seem to ring true or be very close to what you are going through at the time. I often wonder about that. I subscribe to the IVillage Horoscopes and  lately, it seems like my horoscope seems to be ringing true more often than not. Sometimes they can be completely off, but they seem to hit the nail on the head more than half the time. It makes me wonder if astrology actually has anything to do with our personalities or do we create our own destiny by reading horoscopes? What made me think of this was, this morning I was reading my emails and I read my horoscope for yesterday. After reading my horoscope, I said to myself  "I wish I had checked my emails again yesterday instead of this morning."

I have a friend of mine who is my best friend and we have been friends since we were 10 years old. Which makes 30 years now. Her birthday is only one day before mine. It seems like the things we are going through coincide with each other and we laugh and say, it must be in the stars. We both live in two different states and both got pregnant once at almost exactly the same time and it wasn't planned.  I was on birth control and got pregnant anyway.  Our due dates were only different by a few days. We met our husbands around the same and got married around the same time without planning it. However, I am divorced from that husband and she is still married to hers. That time the stars were off. It is just funny how events in our lives coincide with one another and we are both Virgos.

Do horoscope ring true for you or are they completely off?

Is It Monday Yet?

The way Friday started out, I should have taken that as an indicator the weekend probably wouldn't go much better. I am ready to just skip over the rest of the weekend and start over with Monday. I was reading a blog today (by now, it was yesterday) about taking "mommy time". Forget the mommy time, I am in need of some serious "me time". Some time to just escape from reality, even if it is just for a few hours. A few hours where I don't have to think about anything what so ever. I don't want to find myself, I want to lose myself for a few hours or even a few days would be nice. I am in no way mocking the blog, it was a very good post and I enjoyed reading it. I just found it funny, that later in the day I would be thinking the same thing. The only difference is, I don't want to think about who I am or what I want. I don't want to think at all.

I guess that's why I am up drinking a glass of wine and blogging at 3 o'clock in the morning. According to Dr. Oz, I should be drinking a glass a warm milk when I can't sleep. But, I still prefer a nice glass of wine and my laptop to relax me. I can't do milk period, especially warm milk at that. At least blogging and a glass of wine relaxes me a little bit. I guess it makes me feel better knowing that there are other bloggers out there that understand where I am coming from and release their tensions in the same way.

Writing was always therapeutic for me in a way. When I was a teenager, I used to have a book of poems that I would write in when I felt down or frustrated. Unfortunately, my mother found my book and threw it away, because she felt the poems were too dark. Some of them may have been dark, but I don't think she quite understood them or why I would write them or even what it would do for me to write. I stopped writing poetry after that, because I was afraid she would find them and get angry with me for writing them and throw them away again. Instead I would just think about the words in my head, but it wasn't the same as putting them down on paper. Putting them down on paper was like releasing the feelings inside of me. I couldn't write poems about the flowers and the trees, they didn't come to me when I was happy. I wrote poetry when I was sad, that was how I expressed myself and she didn't understand it. I don't blame her completely. Being a parent now, I can understand how finding dark poetry by your daughter could possibly be a little disturbing. But, sometimes I do think about what if I hadn't stopped writing, maybe I could have done something with it. It took years until I discovered blogging and I started writing again.

From time to time, I think about writing a book. I have wanted to write a book, but just didn't have the time to devote to writing as much as I would like sometimes. I started writing last summer, then deleted everything I wrote because, I felt that I should be focusing my time on other things. Maybe someday I will sit down and start writing again. When I sit down and begin writing, I can feel my frustrations begin to disappear with every word and things begin to be put in perspective for me. Until that day I am ready to commit myself to writing something serious, I will be blogging as my therapy, as for it is much more affordable than paying a therapist.

Thank you for listening.

WOW Cable Is In The US

Well, I am always complaining about companies having their call centers overseas. Well, finally I can boast about a company that has the call center right here in the good old U.S.A., imagine that. I recently switched to WOW cable. I had to call today, because I think with all the wind and rain we were having trouble with our On Demand. What a nice surprise I had when I called, I got a a very pleasant customer service representative in Alabama. I could actually understand what she was saying and she could understand me. It makes me feel a little better about paying my cable bill know it's going to help pay the wages of Americans and not to build the economy in another country.

Overlooking companies moving their call centers and manufacturing plants overseas is what has played a huge role in our economy falling. You could probably walk through your house and have a very difficult time finding anything made in the United States. Take Levi's for example, there was no jean more American than a pair of Levi jeans. Well, not anymore. Almost all of our clothes, electronics, household items, and so on is made anywhere, but here. We shop and spend our money to pay people to work in another country. It is going to come to the point where there are very few jobs for Americans to work. Even some of our food comes from overseas. Maybe it's just me, but the quality of the clothes, household items and, etc. has seriously declined. Shoes wear out faster and clothing falls apart faster. They are even making them smaller. My 10 year old buys a small in her t-shirts out of the junior section. I have no idea how they expect that a junior small will even fit a teenager?

Even at the Smithsonian Museum, if you pick up a bust of President Lincoln or an American Flag, they are made in China. You go to gift shop in the Museum to get memento and they are made in China. How ridiculous is that?

The only way to fix this problem and bring jobs back to the United States is to charge the companies overseas a higher tax to ship the products back in the United States and only give tax breaks to the companies that solely operate in the United States. No more tax breaks for companies who send our jobs overseas. Make it more profitable for the companies to come back to the United States and more expensive for them to move their companies overseas and import their products back to the United States. You don't see people from other countries buying our products. So, why are we buying theirs? We are forced to, because our own government has allowed the companies to move overseas.

I did send emails out to the companies I did know had their call centers in overseas letting them know how displeased I was to know where my money was going and with my blog links to my posts on their companies. This time when IndyMac called, they called me from the United States because I told them I refuse to speak with someone overseas regarding an account my account in the United States. I don't trust their account security measures. If enough people took the time to send emails to the companies who have call centers overseas, then maybe it would make a difference. Without us spending our money supporting these companies they would go under. They are smart enough to know it. But, it will continue to go on unless someone stands up and tries to do something about it. I decided, I am tired of our call centers and jobs overseas. Every time I talk to a customer service representative I find out where they are located. If they are located overseas, I give them a hard time and refuse to talk to them. The conversations are recorded, it will eventually get back to the big decision makers of the companies. From working in a call center in the past, I know the banks and companies spot check the recorded conversations to see how the call center is functioning and handling their account. So, a big high five for WOW cable!

They Know!

Why does it seem that sometimes when you have an important appointment, anything that can go wrong does? I had my day planned out, then my youngest threw me a curve ball this morning saying she was sick to her stomach and couldn't go to school. Funny how she had a quick recovery though.  My kids always seem to throw me a curve ball when I have something planned. I swear, it's like they KNOW when I have something to do! Then I had a job interview at 3:00 that got moved to 12:00 and I had an appointment for the cable company to come between 10:00-11:00. Well, of course the cable company didn't come until 11:00, so he started the job and agreed to come back after my interview, thank God! I had to find someone to watch my youngest, which was a task. But, I accomplished it. I was almost broken down to tears, but I got the cable guy and my daughter out of the house just in time leaving 15 minutes to get to my interview. Thank God it was close, I got there just 5 minutes before my interview leaving me just enough time to compose myself before going in. What a crazy day, I just want to lay down and take a nap now.
