Paramedic Being Sued For Stealing A Foot

Former St. Lucie County Fire District firefighter-paramedic, Cynthia Economou, is being sued by the victim of a car crash for stealing his foot. Economou admitted to taking Karl Lambert's foot after the Sept. 19, 2008, crash. Economou says she took the foot to train her body recovery dog.

A lawsuit filed during the past week on Lambert's behalf alleges that Economou's actions were "outrageous and went beyond the bounds of decency ... odious and utterly intolerable in a civilised society".
Lambert's Attorney is also suing the Lucie County Fire Department,  as Lambert and his attorney claim that the district was "vicariously liable for any and all actions" by Cynthia Economou.

Cynthia Economou was charged with petty theft and was sentenced to six months probation for stealing the foot. The paramedic told the court she found the foot in the wreckage an hour after he was air lifted to the hospital and if she thought the foot was re-usable she would have told her commander. She says, "It was an unrecognizable mass of flesh."  Economou says, she got permission from her supervisor to take the foot. She says, at first he said no then he said "I don't want to know about it."  I guess he should of stuck with his gut reaction to say no. Now, the fire department and Economou is being sued by the victim.
