Little Boys & Little Girls

I understand that children start going thru puberty around the ages of 9 or 10 years old. But does that mean they have to turn into monsters who want to argue about everything and refuse to get out of bed before 10 am in the summer.  I am blessed to have a 9 year old girl and a 10 year old boy who are rapidly changing.  Yes, I was being sarcastic.  They are at each others throats most of day.  That is when my son is actually home. My son thinks it is no longer cool to do anything with the family and would prefer to be with his friends seven days a week morning til night and his sister is now his worst enemy. I miss the days when they were little and would play together. They were definately double trouble getting into things together.  When my daughter was born, I thought they would close to one another because they are close in age. However, they are complete opposites. My daughter is sugar and spice and everything nice and my son is 100 % rugged boy. Maybe one day the will be close again, only time will tell. Until then, I guess I will have to mediate and keep them from killing one another.

New Law Against Texting & Driving Starts Tuesday Michigan Drivers

A new law prohibiting texting while you are driving in Michigan will be in effect on Tuesday.  The law says that anyone caught texting or reading a text while their car is moving will be fined.  The new law banning texting while driving is not a bad idea.  I have been guilty of that on several occasions until one day I had a little fender bender while reading a text message.  I learned my lesson on that one, I only text while I am sitting at a stop light or when I get to my destination.  Law enforcement feel it is going to be a difficult law to enforce because the car has to be moving and it will be hard for law enforcement to tell the difference between someone dialing on their phone and someone texting or reading a message.

Rules of the ban

•Texting while driving becomes illegal starting Thursday.

•The law prohibits reading, typing or sending text messages using a wireless two-way communication device in the person's hand or lap while driving a car.

•Drivers can still use dash-mounted navigation systems.

•Police can pull over drivers if they see them texting at the wheel, even if there's no other reason to flag them down.

•Violators will be fined up to $100 for a first offense, and up to $200 for additional offenses.

•The ticket won't come with points, and will not become part of a driver's permanent record.

Relieved

I think my youngest is going to enjoy having a a babysitter on Fridays.  I was pretty impressed to come home and see the new babysitter outside playing baseball with my daughter. I was a little nervous about hiring a teenager as a babysitter, now I  am glad I did. Sammy will enjoy having someone young to do things with when her friends are busy. Now I know who I can when I want to sneak out for dinner or a movie.

Abuse Of Power In The Work Place

I just recently started a new job. It really amazes me how some people in management lack basic people skills. This woman talks to the company employees like they are children or maybe worse.  I made an error and she asked me "Do you know how to read?" That was uncalled for. I wanted to reply "well actually with two college degrees under my belt, I would have to say yes." Considering the financial situation I am in right now, I just went about my business and didn't say a word about it.There are other ways of saying things, than to just be rude like that.  She could have simply pointed out the error and showed me how to correct it without the smart comment. After all, today was only my 3rd day, I'm going to make a mistake here and there. I don't know anyone who can perform the job perfectly in their first week of employment. I was an office manager for 10 years and in those 10 years, I never talked to an employee like that. I showed respect for employees.  I'm sure she makes a mistake or to, there just isn't anyone in the office to point it out. But, I think some people just let there position go to their head and think they can talk to anyone how they please and if you don't like it you can quit.

Schools Out

Children are funny.  As soon as school is out, they think it is time to break all the rules. There is no such thing as a bedtime and no one wants to sleep where they are supposed to sleep. It's time for weekday sleep overs and non-stop friends, seven days a week.  Ahh....the joys of summer vacation

The emotions are running high in June

June has been an eventful month for me already and it's not over yet.  My daughter graduated from high school, my son graduated from the 5th grade, my youngest was in a pageant and my husband and I are trying to restore our marriage.  It has been a very emotional month.  I have had to realize my children are growing up! Does it all have to happen at once?  I don't feel like I am old enough to have a daughter who has graduated from high school. Wow, to think my two youngest will be teenagers before I know it.  I'm not ready for my son to be going into middle school. Even though, he is ready. I think he thinks he is ready to be 18 already. Except when it comes to household chores, he's still 10. My little girl ran for Miss Junior Melvindale, she looked  so mature in her floor length pageant dress and her make up. It was scary, it was like a glimpse into the future and the high school prom. My marriage, all I can say is "wow" that has been an emotional time. You never realize how much you have missed someone until the anger subsides and you are back with them We are hoping for the best, let's hope things work out this time I don't know if I can take it if my trust is broken again. I may decide to switch to the other side and lose all faith in men. But, for now I am working on healing a broken heart.

Run, Run, Run.....

I don't know if I forgot how to manage my time since I have been laid off or I just took on more responsibilities to fill my time.  It seems like all I do is run and there is alway something to do since I have become a stay at home mother.  I have managed to fit in going to the gym & tanning, took my son to get a haircut, fit in a lunch date with my son while I had the opportunity, picked up my daughter's pageant dress, went grocery shopping, stopped a target for a few things, dropped my daughter off at rehersals, now it's time to cook dinner before picking her up and it's only 6:20 and the day isn't over yet. Being a mother is a lot work, I'm exhausted.

Screwed Up Hair Cut........$22.00

When you sit down in the chair at the hair salon you expect the stylist to cut your hair how you ask them to cut it. Not how they think they should cut it or to do a sloppy job just because they may not be in the mood to cut hair that particular day.  I sent my daughter's boyfriend to take my son to get his hair cut at JcPenney's today.  Wow, the poor child come out looking like Sonic.  She was asked to do a number 1 on the sides, a number 2 on top with it sticking up a little in the front, bring the sideburns to a point.  Well, she did a number 1 on the sides, a number 5 on top, spiked it, squared off the the sideburns and never even took the time to line it up. Now, I have to take him back tomorrow to have it fixed.  If you don't like cutting hair and you are not going to take the time to do it right, then find a new profession. Seriously, they should cut your hair how they are asked, NOT how they feel like cutting it. After all, isn't that what your paying for?

Life....

Life for rent means that my life isn't really my own, I only rented it for a while, but if I don't manage to buy it, to own it, then nothing of what I think is mine is really mine.

I would have to call this one a "RANT"

Because of a certain someone who is not willing to admit to what they have done and just leave things alone, I have to miss my son's 5th grade graduation. They only graduate from the 5th grade once and while my son is graduating from the 5th grade, I am going to be standing in a courtroom. To him this is a big milestone in his life; he will be moving on to middle school. Some people who do not have children don't seem to understand the importance of having your mother at graduation, sporting events and etc. I don't even know how to explain why I won’t be able to make it to his graduation, he almost cried when I told him I wouldn't be able to make it. He thinks he is going to be the only one without his mother there. When someone has done enough damage to another person's life, they should man up and accept responsibility for the things they have done without trying to make the situation worse or more complicated for the one they have hurt. If you know what you have done, then quit trying to play innocent.
