Election Time
It's election time in Michigan and the viewers are bombarded with mud slinging commercials. How the hell do you know who to vote for. It's like picking the worse of the two evils. Too many politicians are dirty, there may be that needle in the hay stack. But, that's difficult to see with all the mud getting thrown around. It would be a breath of fresh air if a politician actually talked about what they had plans for once getting into office instead spending all their money to slam their opponent.

Sarah Palin Alaska
Sarah Palin's reality show premiers November 14th on TLC. In the trailer for Sarah Palin Alaska , she says she would rather be here than in some stuffy old political office. There's nothing wrong with loving the outdoors and yes family does come first. But, saying she would rather be here than in some stuffy old political office could have been left out if your looking to run for president in the near future. Click on Palin Alaska to watch the trailer. Personally, I think her new 8 week reality show is a stunt to get votes if she decides to run for President.

Strength To Love
Martin Luther King, Jr., Strength to Love, 1963.
Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of valuesand his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true.

Nosey Neighbors
People need to find better things to do with their time than to rat on their neighbors for a tree house. Melinda Hackett put up the round, cedar tree house for her girls in a tree in her tiny Greenwich Village backyard and her neighbors reported her saying it looked like it was and unsafe and she didn't have a building permit for the tree house. Seriously people, since when did you need a permit for a tree house. It's not like the thing is constructed of 2X4's and is an eye sore. Melinda Hackett spent $5,000 to construct a tree house made of cedar wood for her children. In the end, Melinda was allowed to keep the tree house for her girls and the tree house was granted landmark status, but not after a long battle in court.

Sarah Palin For President?????
So, the buzz out there is Sarah Palin is preparing herself to run for President of the United States. I am not opposed to a woman running for President, I'm a woman and think it would be a great leap for women. I am more opposed to another Republican getting into office. Yes, I am a democrat through and through. I have always said the average American making under $500,000 a year can not afford to be a Republican. This country is messed up enough. Even though there has been a very slight improvement to the economy, a Democratic President can not dig this country out of the trenches Bush dug us into. They need at least two consecutive terms to see a difference. Then of course history will repeat itself, people will be doing better and falsely lead themselves to believe if you make over $100,000 a year, you are wealthy and will benefit from a Republican President. Sorry to burst your bubble, your not considered wealthy or available for the tax breaks Republicans offer unless you make over $500,000 a year (but, they won't tell you that). So, God help us all if Sarah Palin wins the election. Obama is the best thing we have seen in years and I would hate to see him go before he has had an opportunity to dig us out of this mess Bush has put us in.
21 Year Old Hollingsworth Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Her God-Daughter
A local Detroit woman, Nichole Hollingsworth had federal charges placed against her for drugging her 3-year-old god-daughter by sending pornographic pictures of her to a man in Missouri. The complaint lists the content of several messages exchanged between Hollingsworth and the man, which indicate a romantic relationship and a desire to kidnap and sexually assault young children together. They also found messages where Hollingsworth told the Missouri man she wanted to learn how to become a sexual predator and wanted to kidnap children with him to sexually assault young children. Hollingsworth blew marijuana smoke in the child's face and drugged her with NyQuil then took pictures and videos of her sexually molesting the child while babysitting the child. No one suspected the 21 year old woman of molesting the child. That goes to prove you have to be very careful of who you trust your children with. This world we live in is a crazy place

The History Of The Jack-O'-Lantern
Carving pumpkins has become a tradition on Halloween Night that has been passed down from generation to generation. People have made carving pumpkins on Halloween an art. Pumpkin carvers on Halloween are always looking for new ways to be creative with their carvings. But, where did the idea of carving pumpkins come from? The primary purpose of a jack-o’-lantern in tradition was that to be placed in the window of a home or on the doorstep to ward off evil spirits, and sometimes even Stingy Jack himself.

Dianna Agron Apologizes For Her Racy Photos Of The Past
Dianna Agron regrets posing for racy photos in her mid-20's and apologizes for the photos. Seriously, everybody is only making a big deal about the photos because the television show Glee is becoming a hit. I've never watched the show but I really don't think it should matter if she posed for some racy photos in the past. Now, considering her character, I think she should be questioned if she was posing for the photos during her contract with the t.v. show Glee. First of all if you don't want your children watching the show. THEN DON'T LET THEM! Parents should put more effort into monitoring their children then trying to make a big deal out of some old photos of an actress or actor. By making a big deal out of the photos, they are bringing more publicity to the photos and your children are more likely to find them on the net when they open your homepage, because the story will be right there on the front page because these parental groups are making a big deal of it. So, yes now your kids have probably seen the pics already because the parental groups has just made it a big story.

The Pre-Pubescent World Of Middle School
What happens to boys when they hit middle school? My son is making me crazy over clothes now that he has entered the pre-pubescent world of middle school. All of a sudden he can't wear regular tees to gym class anymore. He has to have the silky basketball shorts with the matching shirt. He ran out of shirts this morning to go with his shorts. So, I told him "grab a t-shirt that matches." His response was "I can't!" So, I asked him "why not?" He says "Because, I can't wear that to gym class." Now, he forgets I just had one graduate from high school, I am not stupid enough to believe he can't wear a regular t-shirt to gym class. I know the school does not require parents to go out and buy the basketball sets for them to wear to gym class. When we were growing up, I just grabbed any old t-shirt and shorts to wear to gym. Nobody cares what you wear to gym class. He is the same way about his clothes. At 5th graduation, I couldn't get him to wear a nice shirt. He insisted on wearing a t-shirt. Now, he will only wear skinny jeans, brand name tees or button down shirts. He thinks he has to have Axe shampoo and deodorant. He's even concerned about how he looks when he's out playing with friends and insisted on getting a faux hawk and actually does his hair everyday. Sometimes, I wish he was still into the tees and baggy pants phase, he was much easier then. He wants his ear pierced, but I won't allow that one. I think boys should look like boys. Isn't it kind of early for him to worry about all this stuff already? I wish he worried about keeping his room clean as much as he worries about his appearance. Then there's the mouth and talking back. The funny thing about it, on his progress report, his teachers said he was a pleasure to have in class. How do they have such personality changes after they get off that bus? God help me, this is just the beginning.

Your Kids Have A New Drug That Is Legal
Today's youth has found a substitute to smoking cannabis and getting away with it. They are now smoking a drug called spice. Smokers of spice can get the same effects of smoking cannabis and without testing positive for drugs in their system. Spice can be found in many gas stations and head shops. Spice is a synthetic cannabis that can not be detected in the system as cannabis. Although many European countries have banned spice, it is still legal in the United States and Canada. Spice is sold as a herbal smoking blend or as incense. Spice is sold under the names of Spice and K2. Spice originated in Europe in 2004 and spread to the US and Canada. Spice has the same negative effects as marijuana and some users have an increased agitation and severe vomiting. Regular users of spice have noticed withdrawal symptoms. Some users of Spice have noticed ongoing psychotic episodes and is shown to produce psychosis in some of it's users. There are very little studies done on the effects synthetic cannabis has on the body. Most of the Spice users are teens and young adults. Keep an eye out for packages labeled Spice and K2. They are sold as incenses, but I would think twice if your teen says that is what they are using it for. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Jennifer PetKov Taunts Her Neighbor's Little Girl
This bullshit going on with a Trenton, MI woman Jennifer PetKov, taunting a her neighbor's daughter by posting Facebook pics of the little girl with her face being the center of a skull with cross bones and her mother wrapped in the arms of the grim reaper is absolutely ridiculous. Petkov and her husband even went as far as to paint their truck and put a coffin in the back of the truck. Petkov got on the news and was ranting how she did because she knew it would piss her off. This is a prime example of how childish people act when they get on Facebook. What the hell ever happen to people? Have they gone and lost their damn minds? Now they offer a apology to the family and the little girl after they have been publicly humiliated and her husband is suspended from his job. Do you honestly believe someone who is capable of doing something like that is sincerely sorry? I highly doubt it. The entire thing was over a neighborhood dispute. I am a Facebook user, but this shit is starting to get rediculous the shit people do on their Facebook accounts.

Sex and the city 2
For those Sex and the city lovers, there is a sequel! I really enjoyed the first movie a lot more than I thought I would and Sex and the city 2 looks even better than the first. I'll waiting for this one to come out on dvd to enjoy relaxing on my couch. For the first Sex and the city, my husband ran to the bedroom to watch football. I'm sure he will enjoy 2 as much as the first Sex and the city. ;)
A sigh of relief...
I went for my mammogram on Tuesday and had an appointment with the surgeon yesterday, it was just a cyst. What a relief. They surgeon took care of the cyst in the office, so everything worked out okay in the end and I am a little sore but, good as new. It was a scary feeling sitting there waiting for all the test results. Everyone at the Breast Cancer Center was awesome. Everyone was very prompt on doing the testing and getting the results because the lump was rather large, it was about the size of a lime. Now, I'm just waiting on the results of the fluid drawn from the cyst to make sure it wasn't cancerous. But, the surgeon assured me, he doesn't think it was cancerous, so I feel much better. One lesson I learned from the whole situation is GO FOR MY YEARLY MAMMOGRAMS.

One of life's little bumps in the road...
Today I went in for my annual check up with my Obgyn. He found a lump on my breast. A rather large one at that. I never expected to hear that from him. I don't know why, I just never thought, it would happen to me. But, I guess that is how we all think until it does happen to us. He doesn't think it's cancerous, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. So, I guess I will be going for my mammogram tomorrow. How appropriate during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. That's something all women should stay on top of. But, I think with the fear we all carry deep down inside, so many of us avoid getting those mammograms because we are afraid of what they might find or we are foolish enough to think it will never happen to us. Days like these I wish my Grandmother was still around. She always had a way of making me feel like everything will be just fine. She always said your a Rush woman and we are strong women and can get through just about anything. So, what do I do when I come home from the doctor? Cook greens, mash potatoes, gravy and BBQ ribs. It's comfort food. Whenever I'm missing her, I cook the things she used to cook a lot of. For some reason, it makes me feel a little better. If I can offer any advise to anyone, get your check ups and mammograms and never forget to tell the ones you love how much you love them.

Make Sure You Pay Your Fire Protection Fee In Tennessee
Gene Cranick's home in Obion County, Tenn. caught on fire last week and when he couldn't put the fire out with his garden hose. He called 911 to have the fire put out. To his dismay, he didn't pay the nearby town's $75 fee for fire protection service and the fire department wouldn't come and put out the fire. Cranick's neighbor called the fire department because they were afraid their home would catch on fire, the fire department responded to the call but wouldn't do anything, they just stood there and watched Cranick's house burn down to the ground. Cranick assumed they would come and put out the fire even if he hadn't paid the $75.00 fee. It's sad a man had to lose his home over $75.00. The fire department could have put out the fire and sent him a bill. What if there had been someone in the house? Would they still have let the house burn down with a person in the house? I guess the residents of Obion County and the surrounding areas know to pay their bill. But seriously, something has to be done about that. They can bill the people later instead of letting someones house burn down. That's is just ignorance.

A Tribute to Children Who Committed Suicide Because of Bullying
Cyber Bullying is getting out of control. Parents and teachers should step up if they see a child who is being bullied or their child is a bully. Some parents don't want to admit their child is a bully or think their child is doing harm to another child by being a bully. Too many teachers and parents say "It's just kids being kids." Times have changed and bullies have more venues to harass and embarrass other children. They can make a child's or a teen's life seem unbearable. Children and teens who have taken their life because they were victims of bullying. These are just a few of our children who have took their lives in 2010 because of bullying. We can all do something. Something is better than just sitting by and doing nothing.
JOSHUA, Texas (CBS/KTVT/AP) Bullying may have claimed the life of another student. Jon Carmichael took his own life Sunday after some say he was bullied by bigger classmates. |
Ty Smalley shot himself after he was suspended from school for fighting. Ty's father says he was a victim of bullying and was tired of fighting. |
The parents of Asher Brown, an eighth-grader who committed suicide last Thursday, say that their son killed himself in response to relentless antigay bullying at his Houston school. |
In Massachusetts, another student, 15-year-old Phoebe Prince, committed suicide after she was mercilessly harassed for months, something that school administrators knew about but did not stop. Seth Walsh, a 13-year-old boy from Tehachapi, California, has committed suicide after being bullied by classmates over his sexual orientation. |
Similac Recall- Please Read If You Have An Infant Or Are Pregnant
I received this letter in the mail yesterday regarding the Similac recall. When reading the letter, it appears Similac is trying to down play the whole thing and I could probably bet you, someone at Similac paid an FDA worker to have a voluntary recall. The funny thing about the whole thing is, I haven't seen it on the news yet and it is a voluntary recall. Shouldn't have the FDA stepped in and made sure parents were informed about the recall. This recall should be anything, but voluntary. With all these recalls, it just seems like the FDA are not doing their job until it's too late and our food is contaminated. My concern is how come the news haven't posted the recall on the news yet? If they have, I haven't seen it yet. What about the parents who do not use the Internet and do not have access to the recall information? There is still plenty of parents out there who can not afford a computer and does not have Internet access or does not use the Internet for religious reasons. Please read the important recall information if you have an infant or know someone that does. Consider switching to a different formula and throw away any formula you may have on your shelf. No one can tell you for sure all of the containers of formula affected by the recall.

Rick Sanchez Fired From CNN
Does anyone read the comments on some of the yahoo stories? Whenever a story like the one posted on Sanchez getting fired from CNN for his comments against Stewart, the racist people come out of the woodwork. I don't agree with making racist comments about anyone, joking or not joking. Sanchez has a right to voice his opinion about not liking the comments made by Comedy Central's John Stewart. But, maybe he should have went about it differently. In a way he was being racists, by referring to the Jewish as the "Jews". If your going to make a statement about racist comments by others, leave the slang out and don't bash other races. Racism is still alive and as strong as ever. Maybe someday people will learn to co-exist together without making everything about the races.

The KKK is on the rise in Michigan
See the KKK for who they really are & don't be fooled
The KKK is on the rise in Michigan and has been since 2007. The KKK has been successful in recruiting new members due to the loss of jobs in Michigan and a rise in crime. The KKK fools new members into thinking they are a group who promotes “uplifting and bettering our race.” Many desperate people fall for their lies. There are a total of five active groups across Michigan. The KKK claim many Americans have been forced out of jobs due to the rise in illegal immigrants who have migrated here and are willing to work for less wages than the average American citizen. They are successful in taking the American workers discontent and channeling into racism. Phil Lawson, the imperial wizard of the United Northern and Southern Knights, the largest KKK group is located right here in Michigan. Phil Lawson is claiming the Klan is growing in astounding numbers. The KKK are drawing people in because they seem to be saying things that seem to make sense to those who have been victims of Michigan's jobless rate. Some Klan members claim, they are not racist, they are affirming their Christian beliefs and use Christianity to recruit members. The KKK has seen a tremendous growth in Oakland and Macomb Counties in Michigan. Klansmen gather at white power music concerts or socialize at so-called unity rallies’ with other white supremacists, as to participate in ritualistic cross burnings in the rural wilderness. Parents be cautious of the music your children are listening to, who they are hanging out with and where they are going. Teenagers who's families are members of the Klan try to recruit other teenagers to join. The KKK is a valid threat to our communities, they have managed to voice their opinions in debates and have a history of using violence.
