The New Child Tax Credit

Recently, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) was signed into law by President Trump. One of the tax reform changes includes a new child tax credit. How will this affect you when filing your 2017 tax returns? I am sure many people are going to be really disappointed when they file their tax returns this year.

Here are the changes you have to look forward to when filing your return in 2017.

The child tax credit, was introduced by 1997 legislation and was first available in 1998. It started as a nonrefundable credit of $400 for each qualifying child under the age of 17. In the last 20 years, it has undergone many changes. Under pre-TCJA law, the CTC was worth up to $1,000 per qualifying child and was refundable for taxpayers with earned income of at least $3,000. This was phased out for taxpayers with an adjusted gross income above $75,000 ($110,000 for joint filers). These rules remain in effect for 2017 tax returns (filed in 2018). The TCJA eliminates the dependent exemption itself, but retains the definition of dependent to claim the CTC and other child- or dependent-related tax benefits.

  • The CTC is worth up to $2,000 per qualifying child. The age cut-off remains at 17 (the child must be under 17 at the end of the year for taxpayers to claim the credit).
  • The refundable portion of the credit is limited to $1,400. This amount will be adjusted for inflation after 2018.
  • The earned income threshold for the refundable credit is lowered to $2,500.
  • The beginning credit phaseout for the CTC increases to $200,000 ($400,000 for joint filers). The phaseout also applies to the new family tax credit.
  • The child must have a valid SSN to claim the nonrefundable and refundable credit.

Rule 15—Earned Income Limits

$48,340 ($53,930 for married filing jointly) if you have three or more qualifying children,
$45,007 ($50,597 for married filing jointly) if you have two qualifying children,
$39,617 ($45,207 for married filing jointly) if you have one qualifying child, or
$15,010 ($20,600 for married filing jointly) if you don't have a qualifying child.

Turpin Siblings Horror Story of Abuse

Two California parents are facing life in prison for the abuse of their 13 children. Louise Anna Turpin, 49, and David Allen Turpin, 57 entered in not guilty pleas in court on Thursday afternoon in Riverside County District Attorney's Office. Both are being held on a $13 million dollar bail. One million per child. The couples next court date is February 23rd and could be looking up to facing 94 years to life in prison.

The charges include child abuse, torture, lewd acts on a child under the age of a child under the age of 14 and false imprisonment.

“One of the children at age 12 is the weight of an average 7-year-old,” he told reporters, revealing more about the discoveries alleged to have been made Sunday after police raided the home in Perris. “The 29-year-old female victim weighs 82 pounds.”

The parents would buy food and prohibit the children from eating with the exception of the 2 year old. For some reason, they were allowing the 2 year old to have enough to eat.

The age of the children ranged from age 2 to age 29. The children would be up until around 4 or 5 a.m. before going to sleep. The children were tied in ropes and if they escaped the ropes they were chains and locks. The children often beaten and their punishments would last for weeks or even months at a time. Which sometimes included strangulation as their punishment.

The children were only allowed to bathe once a year. If the children washed their hands above their wrists they would be chained up for punishment for playing with water, according to authorities.

Many of the siblings suffer from cognitive impairment and neurological impairment as a result of the abuse.

Authorities say, the 17 year girl who had escaped on Sunday had been planning the escape for 2 years with siblings. Police say, she climbed out a window with another sibling and dialed 911 on a deactivated cell phone once outside the house and then turned back, because she was afraid of being caught.

The children were home schooled on the scriptures, but lacked the basic knowledge of life. In fact, did not even know what a police officer was.

David Turpin is listed in a state Department of Education directory as the principal of Sandcastle Day School, a private K-12 school that he ran from the house. It opened in 2011, and enrolled six students during the 2016-2017 school year, one in each the fifth, sixth, eighth, ninth, 10th and 12th grades, according to the directory.

David Turpin posted pictures of the family on Facebook at Disneyland and wedding photos to make them appear normal.

A 4-year-old found beaten and abused, she thought her name was ‘Idiot,’ according to police.

District Attorney Michael Hestrin said at a news conference Thursday, this is an ongoing investigation. The children were allowed to write in journals and recorded their abuse. Police found stacks and stacks of journals where the children had recorded their abuse that will be a great resource into the investigation of their abuse.

Car Hacking The New Threat

Car hacking is not something we ever thought we would have to worry about.  Car hacking is the new threat as technology advances. Automakers are now finding themselves having to prepare to protect your automotive from cyber attacks. The threat is real and could get more serious as the future advances into driver-less cars begin talking with one another. Imagine hackers infiltrating a car through a  infotainment system before taking control of the car's driving features opening a new door to auto theft.

Car hacking allows them to shut down your security features and take over the basic driving functions. Basically, car hacking would allow car hackers to hack into a moving vehicle on the highway. As automobiles become more automated, the threat becomes more real.

Another Government Shut Down Possible In the Next 7 Days

2017 may be a new year, but it is the same old politics. Congress is looking at another shut down by January 19th, if they do not come to an agreement on a budget plan and the Deferred Action Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program, Military spending and building a wall on the Mexican border.

A shutdown will happen when the government fails to sign 12 appropriate bills into law by the deadline.

Members of Congress can gives themselves an extension to prevent a shutdown. However, they are not going to agree on anything they are already disagreeing on. Why give themselves an extension? They are basically getting a paid vacation when Congress shuts down.

Non essential government employees such as national parks, monuments, and etc. will be sent home without pay until an agreement is reached while politicians still get paid.

Trump has said, a government shut down could be useful for him. However, the democrats could be taking the blame for a broken government if congress does not come to a decision and are faced with a shut down.

NFL National Anthem Protests

The NFL players protesting during a game is totally inappropriate. The players should be penalized for protesting on national television before a game. The players are payed to play football not to express their political view on national television. Football is a business and people pay a lot of money to watch them play and they are not there to make a statement.

If a football player has a problem with standing and respecting our national anthem and our flag then he should be fired and banned from the NFL. He is representing the United States out on the field and the NFL and should be expected to uphold a certain set of guidelines and if he is not happy with that then go find another job.

Too many of these football players think they are irreplaceable and the fact is they are wrong about that. There is a new rising star every year ready to fill their shoes. It is time for the fans to stand up and pull out their money to make a statement.

Direct TV is offering refunds to NFL Sunday Tickets to wake players protesting the national anthem. Do not allow the NFL to bring politics into football.

"According to the Wall Street Journal, several customer service representatives from DirecTV revealed that the company is willing to provide refunds to some customers who “cite players’ national anthem protests as the reason” for wanting to cancel."

Stories Of Inspiration of Hurricane Harvey

Today's society  seems to be in a constant race battle. Then Hurricane Harvey comes along and humanity shines. For a few short weeks, you longer hear about the protests or the race battle on social media.

Out of the tragedy and chaos Hurricane Harvey, stories of inspiration and hope is born. People forming human chains to save one another and doing whatever is necessary to help one another.  It is a sad thought to think that it has taken something like Hurricane Harvey to distract Americans from their race war they are having on social media and across America since the presidential election of President Obama and that has continued with the election President Trump to unite Americans.

In reality, such a small percentage of the population elected their president of choice based on race. Presidential elections historically have been about change. These past two presidential elections have been about a country in need of desperate change. When people are heading to the poles, the majority of Americans have their own agenda in mind. Division of the races is usually not on the top of the list when they are heading to the poles.

Americans have proven just how compassionate we can be towards one another and our country is not divided among the races as much as some people would like to believe. Here are just a few of the many stories of inspiration of Hurricane Harvey. These are the real Americans of America.

U.S. Doctors Contributing to Narcotic Drug Addiction

A recent visit to the oral surgeon with my teenage son to have his wisdom teeth abstracted sparked some concern about how over prescribed narcotic pain killers are to adults and teens. Especially, to youth under the age of 18 for non-serious surgical procedures.

Almost everyone can say they know someone who is addicted prescription pain medication or who has overdosed from prescription pain medication. Prescription pain medication addiction is an epidemic sweeping across the United States and have caused more overdose deaths than overdose deaths to heroin and cocaine combined.

I have always been against the use of highly addictive narcotic pain killers except while under closely monitored situations and only in as needed cases to control intense pain for patients. In my opinion, the production of hydrocodone should be stopped. It has become a street drug and many patients addicted to hydrocodone exaggerate their pain levels in order to get their hands on the drug. Doctors are just too willing to prescribe the drug to addicts. However, 99% of doctors have abused the federally recommended 3 days dosage limit. Some doctors exceed the limit by prescribing month long dosages. Insurance companies contribute to the problem of abuse by making it the most affordable opiate for insurance coverage and pharmaceutical companies issuing coupons similar to this one below.

Despite the warning labels and federal recommendations, doctors put hydrocodone and other highly addictive narcotics in the hands of teens and adults every day leading to addiction. Even after requiring the pharmacies to fill out forms for narcotic prescription drugs is not slowing down the doctors from over prescribing prescription drugs if no one is monitoring the frequency the drug is being prescribed.

According to the Health: Chronic Pain
"Misinformation particularly seems to be at play when it comes to tackling back pain and dental pain. While more than 70 percent and 55 percent of doctors say they prescribe narcotic painkillers for back pain and dental pain, respectively, these drugs are not considered the ideal treatment for either condition, according to the safety council."

Hydrocodone (Zohydro ER) is the number one most over prescribed prescription narcotic pain killer. Hydrocodone is the number one abused prescription drug by adults and our youth. According to the Department of Health and Family Services, while other forms of drug addiction has lowered nationwide. Non-medical use of Vicodin has increased at increasingly high rates among our youth. Nearly 2 million individuals suffer from Vicodin addition.

If you or someone you know would like help suffering from drug addition contact the American Addition Center at 877-746-0052 or by clicking on the link provided.

FBI Reopens Clinton Email Investigation

The FBI has reopened it's case against Hillary Clinton and the missing emails on her private server. The FBI would not reopen the case unless they have significant evidence to reopen the Clinton email investigation.

Director Comey of the FBI says, he has new emails that are pertinent to the email investigation. Comey is reviewing new emails to see if they contain classified information.

Wikileaks has now released a new batch of emails incriminating Hillary Clinton, https://wikileaks.org/clinton-emails/. Wikileaks has dumped some 30,000 emails giving a black eye to the Clinton campaign.

If Hillary Clinton is elected, she will be the most corrupt person ever to be President of the United States.

The FBI reopening the case against Hillary Clinton may bring a group of voters who are going to go out and vote for Trump in the upcoming election to keep Hillary Clinton from winning the 2016 Election.

The 2016 Race for the White House

Here we are, only 16 days until the Presidential election. Neither candidate has been has focused on a secure plan for when they get into office. This election will go down in history as the biggest mud slinging bash. Both candidates has consistently failed to deliver a firm plan of what their goals are if they get into office. Clinton and Trump spend their time on the campaign trail bashing the other candidate and cleaning up the mud from their tarnished reputation.

This country is divided by a 50/50 divide with Hillary Clinton slightly ahead in the polls. The country has quickly spiraled downwards in the past 16 years beginning Bush, then with Obama and the great recession. People are tired losing jobs, dropping wages and the fading American dream.

The citizens of the United States want change. Clinton is a carbon copy of Obama and that will tarnish her chances of being elected.

Trump represents what Americans are tired of. Americans want our borders closed, tired of high taxes, job loss and our Constitutional rights being chipped away.

I  think that there are a group of closet voters who are supporting Trump behind closed doors, because they are afraid of publicly supporting Trump.

Obama Golfing During Louisiana Crisis

Where is Obama during the Louisiana flood crisis? Obama is on the golf course as usual. Obama will go down in history as the no show President.

It appears as he as decided he is going to kick back and relax during his last year of Presidency. Obama has consistently vanished during a time of crisis, but offers his prayers

."As the president told Gov. Edwards over the weekend, the community of Baton Rouge has faced a difficult, even tragic, summer but can count on the ongoing prayers and unwavering support of the president and their fellow Americans in their time of need," Friedman said.

The Clintons Cashing In On Big Money

A recent documentary, Clinton Cash follows the Clinton money trail and sheds light on how Hillary and Bill Clinton are cashing in on favors. The film shows exposes how the Clintons are getting paid for political favors, because they are known for walking the line of controversy. These people who are paying Bill Clinton $700,000 to speak when they weren't interested in paying him to speak before.

Hillary and Bill Clinton were broke in 2001. Now, they are millionaires and have raised 3 billion dollars for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

These people who are giving all this money to the Clintons have offers on her desk. They are getting favors, because they are looking for favors. What it all boils down to is Hillary and Bill Clinton are accepting bribes for political favors.

The Scandalous Truth About Donald Trump

Donald Trump likes to flaunt his business degree from Wharton University. However, Donald Trump has no formal education in politics. Donald Trump barely knows the basics of politics. So, how does this qualify him to run for President of the United States?

Donald Trump claims going to a military school at the age of 13 gives him the military experience needed to be president. Military school as a teenager hardly qualifies him as a presidential candidate.

Donald Trump claims he can identify with the struggle of Americans, he says he started off in Brooklyn and built his empire. Trump built his empire with a million dollar loan from his father. His struggle was so difficult.

Donald Trump's Childhood home.

“It’s not been easy for me. It has not been easy for me. I started off in Brooklyn. My father gave me a million dollars. I came into Manhattan and I had to pay him back with interest.”

Although the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ inflation calculator estimates that the amount of money Trump received in 1973 would be roughly equivalent to $5,359,121.62 today, Trump was adamant about his early struggle. Trump said:

“A million dollars is not a lot compared to what I have built.”

In the 1970's, Donald Trump had a discrimination law suit against him for refusing to rent to minorities.

The Department of Justice sued Trump and his father Fred in 1973 for housing discrimination at 39 sites around New York. “The government contended that Trump Management had refused to rent or negotiate rentals ‘because of race and color,’” The New York Times reported. “It also charged that the company had required different rental terms and conditions because of race and that it had misrepresented to blacks that apartments were not available.” Trump called the accusations “absolutely ridiculous.”

In 1981 Trump bought up a apartment building in Central Park South planning to build condos on the site. Trump used mob like tactics to attempt force renters out of the location.

In 1982-1986, Trump has been accused of using "Tenant Intimidation" to evict renters. Tenants claim, Trump shut off their heat and electric. Maintenance also refused to make any repairs. Two tenants swore in court that mushrooms grew on their carpet from a leak.

Trump also sued tenants for 150,000 million dollars when they complained.

In New York City and Atlanta City, Trump has been accused of having strong business ties with the Mafia in the 1970's. Although Trump plays himself as an unwitting participant, he was questioned in court. Michael Isikoff has also reported that Trump was close to Robert LiButti, an associate of John Gotti, inviting him on his yacht and helicopter. In one case, Trump’s company bought LiButti nine luxury cars.

From 2005-2010, Donald Trump had an online get rich quick scheme where he scammed Americans for as much as $35,000 a person to attend his online university.

Donald Trump's university was forced to changed it's name to the “Trump Entrepreneur Initiative,” because, the school was violating New York law by operating without an educational license.)

The school shut down in 2010, but the litigation continues. New York is suing Trump, alleging the Trump U. bilked students out of $40 million.

I can only imagine the horror story the United States will become with a President like Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is not looking to make America great again. He is seeking the ultimate power of being the President of the United States.

2016 Presidential Hopefuls

Do we really want another Obama? Ted Cruz is taking the same path Obama took, he is saying what he needs to say in attempt to get elected. Then he is going to turn around and do what he wants to do if he gets elected.

The 2016 Presidential elections is turning into a question of which of lesser evils will carry us through to the next election. Not one of the existing candidates give me twinkle of hope for our future.

Hillary Clinton is corrupt, Ted Cruz is a bed hopper, Donald Trump is an extremist and Bernie Sanders wants to tax the hell out of us.

These are our 2016 Presidential hopefuls.

Donald Trump at a 60% disapproval rating from American voters.

Hitler?

Trump is the most unpopular candidate of both of the democratic and republican party when the entire U.S. population is taken into account.

Donald Trump stepping into the 2016 elections is like throwing in a wild card to throw off the other players. Trump exhibits neither the know how or the background to be a president. His personal life is riddled with controversy.

The truth is the United States would become the laughing stalk of the world. After all,  Trump fits right in the Arab world of politics where women and wine are the way to relax after a big political meeting.
