Stubborn Lint Balls

Yesterday, my daughter was complaining about a shirt she wanted to wear that was covered in little lint balls from a scarf she wore with it the last time she wore the shirt and it reminded me of this neat little trick I learned from my brother a few years back. I guess brothers are useful for something, other than making you crazy when you were a kid. I used to have a sofa that came with throw pillows and for some reason the throw pillows were always collecting lint balls from clothing. There is a way to get rid of all those little annoying lint balls you get on your sweaters, shirts, cotton pants, sheets, and pillows that the lint brush won't remove. Simply take a shaving razor and softly go over the area with lint balls. It completely removes all the lint balls. There is nothing like having a sweater or shirt you can't wear, because some  how it got lint balls on it from somewhere unknown.

Keeping Your Kitchen Drain Clean

After you have cleaned your coffee maker use the water from the pot once the maker has finished peculating with about a half of cup of baking powder to clean you drain. Pour the baking powder in the drain and then pour the hot water and vinegar mix down the drain. Let it sit for about five minutes and then flush your drain with hot water. Learning how to use common household products can save you hundreds of dollars a year on exspensive cleaning products which are not so good for your health.

Cool A Burn Quick



Soak a couple of tea bags in a bowl of water and stick your hand in the bowl and soak or use to may cool compresses with to apply to the burn. The tea helps remove the sting from the burn. Another great way is to buy an aloe plant to keep around the house. Break off a piece and apply to burn.

Cleaning Your Coffee Maker

White Vinegar works great for cleaning your coffee maker. Pour one cup of vinegar in your pot and then fill with water and start your pot. Allow the coffee maker to brew and then once finished refill the pot with fresh water and allow the pot the brew again. You next pot of coffee will taste much better without all the water build up in the pot. The vinegar works great to break down the build up from hard water. I also found that soaking the vaporizor parts in vinegar works great for keeping the vaporizor clean too.

Clean Your Glass Pot

A great way to clean your glass pot is with ice, lemon and salt. Pour about a teaspoon of salt in the glass pot, fill the pot a quarter of the way full with ice and squeeze a lemon in the pot. Swirl the mixture around in the pot until the pot appears clean and rinse. The lemon will help remove the coffee stains and the salt acts as an abrasive without scratching the pot.

Natural Household Products To Clean Your Drain

White Vinegar and either a lemon or lime works great for cleaning a slow drain. I have found that sometimes it can work better for for your bathroom drain than Drano and it's safer to use around your pets and children. Pour a couple of cups of white vinegar down your drain and then squeeze two lemons or limes down your drain. The mixture of the two will eat away all the slime from your drain. Drano will help, but it won't clean the drain spotless, not like the vinegar and lemon. No more running to the store when your in a pinch with your drain.

Natural Products To Clean Your Stove

Being on a budget sometimes can be a strain, meaning some household items you would normally buy you don't because they don't fit in your budget that week or you just forgot to buy something. There are always ways around it. For example, don't have any scouring pads to clean the stove with. Try using salt and lemon. Sprinkle a little salt on the stain and a little lemon juice and scrub with a paper towel or dish rag. The salt acts as an abrasive while the lemon cuts grease.

Cup Cake Papers

I found a useful little tip to use up all those left over cup cake papers. Whenever, I make cup cakes for my children's classes, they always want to pick out their own cup cake papers. I had stacks of cup cake papers in the cupboard. I ran out of paper plates to put the cat's can food on one day. So, I put a couple of cup cake holders in her dish to put her can food in. One of the chores I absolutely hate is cleaning out the cat dish after can food. Using cup cake papers in the dish makes for easy clean up. Just pick it up and throw it away and the dish is still clean. No more soaking and scrubbing dried on cat food from the dish.
