Kidneys For Sale

An Israeli citizen living in Brooklyn, NY admitted to brokering three illegal kidney transplants for $120,000 each. The FBI caught him when he was trying to organize another black market kidney sale.

“Rosenbaum admitted he was not new to the human kidney business when he was caught brokering what he thought was a black market deal,” U.S. Attorney Fishman said. “A black market in human organs is not only a grave threat to public health, it reserves lifesaving treatment for those who can best afford it at the expense of those who cannot. We will not tolerate such an affront to human dignity.”

It is amazing to me what people will do for money. That's terrible to take advantage of those who are in need of an organ to survive. People are laying on their death beds praying they will get a kidney in time and Rosenbaum and people like him are skipping right over the ones who are next in line and going to the one who has the money to pay them to get a kidney.

When I sit and watch the news or read the news I am in shock sometimes what this world has come to. Funny thing about so much of what goes on, you don't see some of this stuff on the news and it makes you wonder why. Does our government not want the American people to know what has become of this country? The United States has become a place that has gone crazy. People will do anything for money and the value of life means very little. Now, you hear about all the crazy stuff going on with the Occupy Wall Street, a war hero was severely injured right here in the United States during a protest by a police officer. He survived the war, to come home and be practically killed by the police in his own country. You don't even see our government doing too much to improve the situation either. We have become a country were the sex slave trade industry and drug trade has become the most profitable business in the entire United States. The government has lost control of the country. You want to think it can only get better from here, but it only seems to be getting worse from here. This is the world our children are growing up in, I am scared to think what it will be for them when they reach adulthood and shutter to think what it will be for their children when they have children.

CraigsList Crook

It is not surprising someone else is using CraigsList to rob someone. Craigslist has become a problem on the net. People use CraigsList to rob peoples homes, steel their belongings, murder, to rob people, and let's not forget prostitution. I don't know how CraigsList can still be up and operating at this point with all the bad press CraigsList gets.

A Garden City single mother decided to sell her wedding rings on CraigsList for money. She had to make the choice between saving the rings for her girls when grow up or paying the bills to support her children. She took all the safety measures to ensure her safety during the transaction and the crooks stole the rings right out of her lap.

A lot of people are turning to CraigsList to sell items for quick cash in these poor economic times and things are getting scary. CraigsList is also widely used to seek work. A lot of employers are turning to CraigsList to advertise employment, because they can get a free listing. Where as a lot of job boards are now charging to place ads for employment. It's a scary place out there in this world now. Last summer I applied for a job off of CraigsList like I had many previous times. I went for the interview where the man said it would be and no one knew who the man was and had never heard of him. He even called back with some lame excuse that the employee was new and didn't know who he was and tried to get me to come back, even though she was standing there with another employee and asked the other employees standing there, if they knew who he was. It is pretty scary, because he knew exactly what I was wearing so he was watching me. Ever since then, I have been very skeptical of anyone off of CraigsList.

A little word of caution, be very very careful seeking employment, selling items or buying items off of CraigsList. You never know what will happen. Trust no one.

It's Wacky Wednesday. Laugh A Little

Always laugh when you can. It is cheapest medicine.

Laughter is the shock absorber that eases the blows of life.

Wall Street Occupy

The Wall Street Occupy group has raised almost $300,000 in funds to support their movement. The group is growing nationwide and has spread to Rome and London. I am sure the U.S. Government never planned on the group gaining momentum like they have. People are tired of the economy and they are expressing their Freedom of Speech. Honestly if I were in the government, I would be worried about the group.

People are demanding change. Most of the big corporations don't even pay taxes. They are supposed to be creating jobs with their tax break in the United States, but they aren't creating jobs they are cutting jobs left and right. In the meantime, the government is taxing the hell out of the working middle class. They take enough taxes out of my husband to support another family on and we are struggling because of it. He gets paid every two weeks and they take as much as $1,000 out of his check every two weeks. That is 26,000 a year in taxes. That is another person's wages. Meanwhile, a lot of these big corporations aren't paying a dime in taxes. Then they take almost half the income of the working class trying to support their families. None of it makes any sense what so ever.

Then there are the ones who can't find jobs. There seems to be a large group of educated experienced people in their late 30's and up who can't find work. It is like we are washed up at 40, if we were laid off. Nobody wants to hire us. We are either over educated for the position or have too much experience. I have been looking for work, it's not easy. The wages are extremely low, less than half of what I used to make before. It seems employers are looking for younger people without any commitments to a family. At interviews, I am always asked how many children do I have and how old are they? A lot of employers don't want to hire women with children. I have worked every since I have had children, it never interfered with my job in the past, so why would it interfere now?

Another thing I hear is, why are you applying for this position when you have a degree in psychology? Why??? Obviously, it is to work is what I really want to tell them. Or another thing I am told is I don't think you will be satisfied with the position, because of the wages. I used to make $20 an hour working full time and now I am applying for positions making $8 or $9 an hour part-time. My attitude is, something is better than nothing, but they just don't seem to get it. I understand that when you are starting over with a new company, you have to work your way up, I am not going to find a job making $20 an hour in this economy. I started with the company in 1999 making $7.50 an hour working full time. Even back then, it was easier to find a job making more than you are now. At least it was full time, giving you more earning potential. That was 12 years ago, it is sad you make more money 12 years ago than you can today.

That is the reasoning behind the Wall Street Occupy. I understand why they are angry. We want jobs, jobs that we can support our families on. The big companies are taking their tax break and using the money to build companies overseas employing people in other countries, not people in the United States. That is not what the tax break was designed for and our government is not stopping them. They are burying the middle class alive. We have spent years of our lives helping these big corporations build their companies and they throw us away like garbage. We are a generation that has dedicated endless hours into investing in our future and we have nothing to show for it. We did what we were supposed to do, we went to college and worked hard to build a future for our families and to give our families a descent home to live in and a chance to go to college themselves. So many of our generation has lost their jobs, their homes and lucky if they even have a place to live. Everything we have worked for is gone and we are still paying the student loans for our education. The government is doing nothing to stop these companies from doing what they are doing. What ever happen to the American Dream? We have lost almost everything we own because of the decisions our government has made and they have the audacity to wonder why are we so angry?

Where Do They Go?

After doing the post the other day on The American People Are Getting The Boot. I started thinking, where are all these families going now that are getting foreclosed on? I know one of my daughters friends, her family was forced to go live with her Grandmother. But, not everyone is fortunate enough to have a family member to move in with if they can't afford an apartment. Sometimes renting somewhere big enough to accommodate children is more costly than the home they were living in. So, what do they do? Where do they go?

Everyone thinks, it can't happen to them. They have owned their home for 5, 10 or even 20 years. They have been at their job for several years. Then one day, they get laid off and can't find another job. Along comes the foreclosure notice and they are out, they are left to find a new home for their family to live. God help them if they are one of the millions, the bank foreclosed on for one late payment or one those who had a mortgage through Bank of America and their home was foreclosed on them for no apparent reason just so the banks could get their hands on some of the 700 billion dollars bail out money Bush decided to hand out to mortgage companies.

So, where do they go from here? Michigan ranks in 8th place nationwide for foreclosures. I started calling the Housing Authority in Wayne County yesterday to ask questions about Section 8 or low income housing. Wayne County won't be accepting applications for Section 8 for almost 5 years, the cities offering low rent has a waiting list of at least two years, one city in Wayne County has one bedroom apartments available, but won't rent a one bedroom to families with children. Which is understandable, but what if you have no where else to go other than a one bedroom for the mean time? After making several calls, I told one women "I'm a single woman with two kids and my house is in foreclosure. What can I do?" Her solution, was to look for a shelter. What about the women or families this is a reality? Where will they go?

You can't really blame it on Section 8 for the list being so long and not having available funds for Section 8. They do what they can. To add to the mess, Michigan has now put a 4 year cap on Welfare funds. If you live in Michigan and have been receiving benefits for at least 4 years, you benefits are now cut. There are a lot of people that abuse the system, but there are also single parents and low income families that depend on their benefits for survival because they have not been fortunate enough to fall into that small percentage of Americans with jobs paying enough for their family to survive on.

The blame falls on the United States Government. It is time for the Government to say, we can no longer offer aide to other countries, our own American People are living in a crisis every day. I don't know about you, but I am very tired of hearing about this country or that country needing help from the United States Government. They talk crap about us and imprison our citizens, but when they need help they come running to our government to help them.

ABC World News, has made a commitment to Made In America Products. Running show after show on buying American Made Products to help Americans get back to work. Below is a clip, if you haven't seen the segments before.

46.2 million Americans are living in poverty. Some of these people and families are forced out on the street, living out of their cars, tents or where ever they can. Even though our government isn't doing enough, they can only do so much. Part of the responsibility falls on the American Companies that have moved their manufacturing jobs overseas or the companies that have moved their call centers over seas, it is time to bring them back and the American Government needs to step in and put a plan in place to do so. But, the American people need to do their part also. Seek out products made in the United States, the more American made products we buy, the more jobs will be created for Americans.

The American People Are Getting The Boot

The President Elections are just around the corner. I usually look forward to the Presidential Elections, but this time around I am having a hard time getting motivated about one particular candidate. Bush put us in this economic pit and Obama has done little to take us out of it. On October 3, 2008, Bush's bill was signed by the House and signed into law to bail out $700 billion of mortgage related assets. By the end of 2008, banks had 850,000 homes in foreclosure as apposed to in 404,000 homes were in foreclosure in 2007. In 2009, home foreclosures were reported at 937,840. That means 1 in every 136 homes were in foreclosure in the United States. Banks were abusing the law, to receive the bail out money. In 2009, 2.9 million homes received a foreclosure notice. By May of 2011, 2.5 million homes have hit foreclosure, and it is expected to see 5.5 million homes in foreclosure by the end of 2011. These figures do not include those who were evicted from their apartments.

Not only does this effect the millions of home owners who have lost their homes, it effects the current home owners equity in their home. The mortgage companies may be foreclosing on all these homes to get the bail out money, but they are not going to win in the end. Not only has home values dropped dramatically, the mortgage applications are at a 13 year low. It is a shame, Bush sold out the American home owners and gave the mortgage companies the opportunity to make a profit off of throwing American Families out of their homes.

Millions of Americans are out of work and loosing their homes. According to the 2011 Census Bureau reports for 2010, 15.1 percent of Americans are living in poverty. That translates to 46.2 million Americans living in poverty. Nearly 1 and 6 Americans were living in poverty in 2010. What is 2011 going to look like?

With an economy like this, everyone loses. No one wins in the end. It is a disgrace the American people have to pay for Bush's big ideas and Obama has done very little to help the situation either. So, who do we vote for. This election coming up, stands to be one of the most detrimental elections since the Great Depression. The Republics dug the whole and the Democrats sat by and watched us fall in. So, who do we vote for? This election determines whether or not we fall in deeper or begin to crawl out of this economic disaster the politicians have created. So, if you haven't been interested in politics yet, it is time to start. You may be next to fall in to the 46.2 million Americans living in poverty or one of the 5.5 million Americans losing their homes.

Same Sex Couple Harassed At Sinai Grace Hospital

Jennifer White, 24, was in the hospital Tuesday night and her girlfriend, Jaquice Smith was waiting in the hallway while her girlfriend Jennifer White was in the room with her mother. Smith had to wait in the hallway, because only one person is allowed in the room with a patient. Smith was approached by a security guard and said he attacked her with homophobic slurs.

It is sad that White's mother suffered from a serious life threatening Asthma attack and she has to deal with a personal attack by a hospital employee. As the situation escalated, there where several security guards standing there and watching was going on and no one stepped in to stop him from spouting homophobic slurs at the two young women.

When you are a bi-stander and do nothing to stop what is going on, the person doing the bullying feels as though you are supporting them, because no one is stepping up to stop what is going on. Obviously, if someones life is in danger then call the police to stop the incident before someone gets hurt or killed. But, I am sure all the security guards have been through training to train them on appropriate behavior. They knew they shouldn't have allowed him to stand there and spout homophobic slurs at the two young women. If there is a situation, they need to deal with the situation properly without causing a scene. The other security guards should have stepped in and dispersed the situation. Now, they may be looking at possibly going down with him.

Racial Intimidation At MSU

Some African American students have fallen victim to racial intimidation at MSU. Either by comments from other students or by a black doll that was hung by a necklace around it's neck. It is terrible that students can not get an education without experiencing racial intimidation. It makes it difficult to get an education if you feel like you are not wanted and racial slurs are said so you can hear them. Those students are only trying to get an education the same as everyone else and should feel safe while they do so.

Racism starts in the home, the example the parents show leaves a long lasting impression on their children they will carry through out their lifetime and it may actually end up getting them in trouble at one point in their lives. We have a duty to teach our children diversity and to be accepting of other races. If you trace your lineage, very few of us are from one pure race. The United States was built on people coming from different countries for a better life. God created all of us, who are we to say one race is more superior than another.

Kids and Guns

In the past month in the Metro Detroit area, there has been two separate incidents where teens have shot someone with a gun. Who is to blame? I blame parents for keeping their guns in places where children have access to them. If someone is going to own a gun, it should be kept in a locked case with the bullets hidden in a separate location. We all have the right to bear arms. However, if your going to keep a gun be responsible. The debate isn't about the right to have a gun or not, it's about being a responsible gun owner. Hiding a gun under the mattress or in the night stand drawer is not keeping the gun out of the reach of children.

Some children are fascinated with guns and then there are the teens who wish to seek revenge on someone else and do not think through the ramifications of shooting someone with a gun. Once a child gets a hold of a gun, their life may be over. Too many people think, it's not going to happen to them or their children until it does and it is too late the change what happened.

Michigan Struggling With Medical Marijuana Laws

Michigan is struggling with the medical marijuana laws. The court systems is getting flooded with people who are getting arrested for carrying their medical marijuana, they are being charged with transporting and possession of marijuana. Some counties are creating ordinances banning medical marijuana dispensaries from opening up in their community.

Michigan's economy is very poor right now, medical marijuana can help put money back in the government. Some people truly need their medical marijuana and they shouldn't be forced into the streets to get it. Since the dispensaries opened up, they have developed medical marijuana soap for people with skin cancer, they users of the soap say the soap can clear up their skin cancer and dramatically improve their lives and are afraid of dieing if the close down the dispensaries. I think their mistake was opening dispensaries. They should have treated it as any other prescription, have the doctors prescribe the medical marijuana and let the pharmacies dispense the products the same as any other prescription. If people are dieing from cancer and suffering from other serious illnesses, let them have their medical marijuana.

In my opinion, there are more problems with alcohol than there is medical marijuana. More people a year get in serious accidents, kill others, and kill others drinking and driving. However, alcohol is not needed, the only thing alcohol does is cause serious injuries or death and create alcoholics in people who abuse alcohol.

By not accepting that medical marijuana make help those with serious diseases and cancer are only holding back scientists in discovering a cure for cancer. If marijuana soap can help clear up skin cancer, what else can it do? The government allow companies to put chemicals in our food and products that cause cancer, however they have a problem with people who have cancer using something that may help them. I say "Pick your battle." Not all battles are worth fighting and they are fighting the wrong battle. Fight the companies who put the chemicals in our food and products that cause cancer in the long run and leave the people who are dieing from cancer alone.
